Accommodation

Motels are plentiful in New zealand and they are often run by couples or family members.

The units of the motels come in different sizes to cater for the different needs of the travellers, e.g. there are studio units which come with a bathroom/toilet, a small pantry and a queen sized bed. Bigger units may consist of one bedroom, two or even three. And it is common to have a single bed and a queen sized bed in one room. Living room is often doubled up as a bedroom. So, a unit (except for studio unit) may accommodate from four to eight persons or even more.

Generally all units come with pantry complete with a fridge, cooker, utensils and crockery. And there is only one toilet cum bathroom regardless of the numbers of rooms. In some cases, the toilet and bathroom may be separate if it is a large unit.
